OUR HISTORY

The Early Days

    "1.

The origins of Bluehaven Group began with the acquisition of various farm-land on the far Eastern edge of Pāpāmoa.

The Taylor, Thompson, Riley and Gibson family owned land parcels were all purchased in the first 10 years, and subsequently developed for residential subdivision.

The transition and early learnings from the development of rural land into residential lots, provided the foundation for the company’s future.

  Long-Term Planning

    "2.

Bluehaven Group brought out international urban planners DPZ (USA) and Roberts Day (Australia) to advise on the future design direction of Golden Sands.

A detailed planning charrette was then convened by Bluehaven Group and its overseas advisers, along with immediate neighbours Te Tumu Kaituna 14 Trust and Tauranga City Council to rezone the Wairakei Urban Growth Area. Mana whenua, other statutory authorities, community groups and the wider public also participated in this inclusive process.

Fundamental to this long-term planning was the establishment of a sub-regional Town Centre to service its primary catchment along the Eastern corridor and wider Bay of Plenty Area.

The rezoning process was largely refined under a Framework Plan with Tauranga City Council for both the Wairakei & Te Tumu Urban Growth Areas.

  Pace and Scale of Residential

    "Goldensands

In 2017, a key residential milestone was reached with over 2,000 new and different types of housing, having been introduced into Golden Sands. This residential stock includes suburban, retirement, urban/medium density, leasehold housing types and some early terraced housing options.

Important to note that another 2,000 new houses have also been planned and recently consented for in Golden Sands, and will be delivered in the upcoming years.

The future stages will also see the introduction of significant and well-planned terraced housing and apartments into our community.

  Providing for the Community

    "DSC00968"

Golden Sands has been planned by connecting the community and its people with a multi-modal approach. Streets are carefully networked in a pedestrian, cycle and scooter friendly way to allow that safe commute, and also complement both vehicular and public transport options .

Bluehaven Group have also introduced a multitude of parks to accompany the Pāpāmoa Beach and the Wairakei Steam reserve corridor. These carefully designed areas are to facilitate where people can meet and enjoy the space, and include playgrounds for different ages, exercise areas, community gardens and respite areas for those quiet times.

There are also two primary schools within Golden Sands area and a third only minutes away, as Bluehaven Group has an ongoing objective to meet the needs the of its growing family populations.

  Initial Commercial Activity

    "DCIM100MEDIADJI_0713.JPG"

The lead-in commercial development in Golden Sands focused on the Excelsa Centre, which was undertaken in 3 stages and completed in 2020.

This mixed-use development and is one of the largest and newest coastal developments in the Bay of Plenty.

Excelsa Centre acts as a vibrant hub for the coastal belt, providing a range of outlets including health & beauty, dining, supermarket, office, retail, cinema and veterinary services, which also allows the Centre to trade through the day and night.
